The Doctor..

Finally I'm here, 8 Weeks from Discovery !!!!!!!

Don't worry Lorna its just a little bit of fatty tissue, nothing to worry about, we can keep an eye on it...... words every woman wants to hear in this situation.

"Hi Doctor..... I think I have found a small lump in my left Breast"  as casual as that.

The GP was lovely, very efficient and thorough and not embarrassing at all!

Quick run through of my health history, family history, "any history of Breast Cancer".. just the usual stuff, but, those words, Breast Cancer, for some reason they hung in the air just a second longer than normal.

I had to get my boobs out and have her feel them, but to be honest it could have been my knee she was assessing, it wasn’t as awkward as I imagined it would have been! 

(but ladies, leave your shyness at the door, this must happen)

My GP actually struggled to palpate the lump, as it was so small. I had to direct her, ..... a bit like encouraging an inexperienced boyfriend, ‘maybe a little more that way, up a bit ..... yeah that's it you've got it now’ lol! 

It was a little uncomfortable in the area she was palpating.

Though just so you know, I wasn’t getting any thrill from this boob groping!

"Yes, there is a small lump there"  I know that, I thought, but what is it... 

"Just to be on the safe side, I want to refer you to the Breast Clinic, they can be quite busy and it might be a couple of weeks until you are seen". 

(I'm thinking, this is routine and its just to confirm a fatty bit of tissue). 

 It was a bit of a surprise when I got an appointment for 5 days later!
